For ten years, we have explored Vancouver Island's secret canyons and caves. Van Isle Eco Adventures was born from this passion, allowing us to share these rare landscapes with you. We invite adults to push their limits and rediscover a sense of play through thrilling yet meaningful wilderness encounters. Every waterfall descent and cave trek is designed to challenge comfort zones safely.Environmental stewardship is at our core. We aim to protect these fragile ecosystems by educating our guests on low-impact travel and conservation. We believe that true adventure should not only transform the individual but also ensure the preservation of the wild places that make such experiences possible.
Zach
Zach’s guiding journey began in the caves of Vancouver Island, where he first discovered a passion for leading people into wild, lesser-seen places. Since then, he’s been driven by the experience of helping others step outside their comfort zones—bringing a sense of play, new perspective, and genuine joy to every adventure.
With a strong passion for teaching and helping others grow, Zach focuses on creating experiences that are both supportive and challenging. He believes the best trips are the ones where people leave feeling more capable, confident, and connected to the natural world.
Over the years, Zach has worked closely with canyon guiding operations across Western Canada, developing the technical skills, safety systems, and guest experience needed to deliver high-quality tours. Today, he brings that experience to Vancouver Island—helping open access to some of the island’s best canyon environments in a safe, engaging, and meaningful way.
Alex
Alex began his guiding journey in the caves ofVancouver Island, where he met Zach and developed a strong passion for underground exploration and technical guiding. From early on, he was drawn to the hands-on, problem-solving side of working in complex environments.
He has worked in both Canada and New Zealand, gaining diverse experience and refining his guiding techniques across a wide range of terrain. This international exposure brings a broader perspective to how he approaches movement, risk management, and trip execution.
Alex brings a wealth of experience and technical expertise to the team. He is involved in multiple cave rescue organizations and has a background in search and rescue, with deep knowledge of rope systems and canyon environments. His skillset plays a key role in maintaining high standards of safety and technical precision on every trip.
